John Minh Nguyen’s photography is best known for the poetic description of his subjects. The cinematic quality that he uses to capture the subjects keeps the images fresh and modern. Born in Vietnam and raised in New York City where he attended the United Nations International School and the Cooper Union School of Art, Nguyen has been traveling extensively, producing a stunning photographic journal that reflects his visual vocabulary. In the 1990s, collaboration with groundbreaking artists, designers and stylists established his place in fashion as a prolific photographer. His extensive body of work has been published in numerous publications worldwide. Nguyen continues today to break the boundaries of conventional photography to explore new ways to show his subjects with photojournalistic sensibility.

ニューヨーク出身の写真家。クーパー・ユニオン・スクール・オブ・アートを卒業。彼は写真の中で若さや斬新さ、90年代前半から半ばにかけての新しさを独自に表現している。古い作品は主に広範囲に渡っての旅行の中で出会った様々な国の文化を彼の目を通して写したものである。写真がより一層生き生きと詩的になるに従って、多くのファッションデザイナー、スタイリスト、その他のアーティストとのコラボレーションへと広がった。特に、彼の能力は写真家としてだけには留まらず、ブルースのコンサルタントとしても活躍。ヌーイェンの写真は世界中の大手出版会社で扱われており、今後もフォトジャーナリストとしての感性を持ちながら、型にはまらない写真を撮り続けていくであろう。
